History of the Music of ´80 The American music industry of the very early 1980s was in a state of flux, which Reebee Garofolo claims reflects the state of American society, in turmoil with the election of Ronald Reagan Disco, the most popular style of the late 1970s, was dead, and the once vibrant field of punk rock was fractured, producing offshoots like New Wave music. The term New Wave was used very loosely, describing a vast range of styles from the arty punk of Elvis Costello to the Talking Heads and the New Romantics; this vagueness temporarily threw the "marketing categories of the music industry" into "disarray" (Garofolo, 353). The record industry itself suffered a recession during this period, a feat which many had thought impossible during the early 1970s, when the industry's profits had risen phenomenally quickly. Between 1978 and 1979, sales within the United States dropped by 11% (Garofolo, 354). New Wave's main-stream popularity was brief. By 1984 (1984 in music), hair metal, long a dormant part of the Los Angeles music scene, started its reign on the charts. Led by hypermasculine bands like Quiet Riot (Metal Health), Van Halen (Van Halen) and Mötley Crüe (Shout at the Devil), hair metal reached its popular peak in the late 1980s with Def Leppard's Hysteria and Bon Jovi's New Jersey. Guns N' Roses' Appetite for Destruction burst onto the scene late in the decade, and launched a new, short-lived era of more machoistic posturing and harsh, critical lyrics, mixed with the occasional ballad and virtuosic riff. Popular music in the 1980s focused on two developments. A smooth, ballad-oriented pop-soul fusion labeled contemporary R&B evolved and dominated the pop charts, especially in the early part of the decade. Lionel Richie (Can't Slow Down), Michael Jackson (Thriller), Madonna (Material Girl/Like a Virgin/Like a Prayer) Whitney Houston (Whitney Houston) Prince (Purple Rain) George Michael (Faith), and Cindy Lauper (She's So Unusual) exemplified this field. Madonna's look and manner of dress, live performances and music videos, became increasingly influential among young girls and women. This style became an iconic female fashion trend in the 80's.

Some of the most important groups of thees time are Guns ´n´ Roses, Red Hot Chili Peppers, U2, Bon Jovi, Metallica and Niervana.

Nowadays, the most popular music in Argentina is the reggeton, the cumbia and maybe the hip hop or reggae too. However there is a lot of people who like the music of the '80. Always that a gig of a group of the '80 is made in Argentina, the stadium or theatre gets full. In my opinion, the most interesting and the best music was made in the '80. Either music from Argentina, US or Europe, all the best music has been made at this time.

In Argentina, is very common to see people listening music of '80s. In general it's usual to listen on the free time. The groups mentioned before are the most popular. However, there are several groups that aren't very popular, but are listened by somebody.

The conclution that we can do is that it's a very interesting topic. You can ramify this topic in a lot of subTopics like for example the groups that were born at this time, the instruments that were played, the changes produced on the music, etc. We love the music of '80s. We think that the best of the best music was made at this time. The better groups were born at this time.
Axel and Martin are very happy. We think that we could know much more about the music of '80s and deepen our knowlegeds about this topic. We are very happy too, for could know Ruth Mery, Bria and Christian although they didn't answer our mails.
We wish they the best and if someday we travel to New Jersey we want to meet them.

Conclucion: We love the music and this proyect it was funny beacause we like the theme of it, We dont like to much the connection beteen the people of the USA and US but they help us.
We send some greeting's Martin and Axel.
